Dungeon Crawler Carl (Books 1-7)

Starting this website to blog about movies, shows, and books, was in large part due to this series. When I began reading it 6 months ago, people weren’t talking about it and I just couldn’t understand why. The books are truly amazing. I understand that it can be hard to start a series when you’re looking at the millions of choices (similar to Carl in class selection) but how people can read the premise of this series and not be hooked flummoxes me. With that being said, if someone described the book to me, I wouldn’t know what the hell they were talking about. With each book being a different level, and with it a whole new world, I can understand why someone contemplating reading it would be daunted by the task, however when you actually read the books, the levels/worlds make complete sense.

I am trying to keep this review spoiler free, especially when it encompasses 7 books so I will just say a few things. First and foremost, shoutout Matt Dinniman for creating such a great series and for his incredible writing and world building. Secondly, I cannot understate how great Carl and Princess Donut, the main characters, are. Their story arcs have been incredible so far. Thirdly, the side characters are ALMOST equally as amazing as Carl and Donut. Mordecai, Katia, Samantha, Prepotente, Louis, Juice Box, and so many more characters are so great in their roles and have very layered stories for tertiary characters.

I am starting the 8th book, “Parade of Horribles”, today and I’m very excited to have more adventures with Carl, Donut, and the rest of the crew. Next review will be of the 8th book and will start to have spoilers! Stay Tuned!
